Description: Our Ceremonial Matcha is carefully picked and crafted from first harvest green tea leaves from Yame, Fukuoka, Japan. It is stone ground into an ultra fine powder; giving it a delightful, smooth flavour profile best appreciated when sipping as traditionally prepared tea.

Ingredients: Organic Japanese Matcha Green Tea Powder from Fukuoka, Yame, Japan.

Health Benefits: Shade growing for 3 weeks promotes amino acids, chlorophyll production in the tea leaves which contributes to its florescent, bright green coloured powder. The leaves are not rolled, but laid out to dry so the stems and veins can be easily removed. The leaves are de-veined and then stone ground into an ultra fine, florescent green matcha powder.

Tasting Notes: A slightly more nuanced, subtle flavour profile with umami notes. The mouthfeel is smooth, mellow, with little to no bitterness.

Journey: Yame is located in a mountainous area with the Hoshino River that flows from the east to the west, creating an ideal climate for growing high-quality tea. It is a first harvest matcha, the leaves of which are hand picked and grown at high altitudes, where the air is moist and foggy and the trees grow slowly, yielding a matcha with exceptional depth and complexity. Tea trees grow slowly under these conditions, which translates into the tea’s sweet and savory “umami” flavors.
