Notes of ocean air, chrysanthemum and cool mintÂ
Green Tea from Assam, India / Harvested in February 2024 / Organic
This tea comes from a small district of Sonari within the Charaideo subdivision in Upper Assam. It is light, floral and earthy with marine notes of ocean air accompanied by a cool mint aftertaste.
The length of the steaming process is a key determinant in this tea's flavor, aroma and color. Our teamakers use a deep steaming process that removes any raw grassy taste or astringency in the finished tea, for a cup that is comparable to several white teas. Being more delicate, the tea leaves are handled with extreme care and fragility resulting in substantially large, whole, unadulterated green leaves.
The source garden finds nourishment through streams that flow from the Naga Hills which quietly enrich the soil and positively impact tea growth. Since the tea estate was taken over by new owners in 2015, most of the old tea trees that range from 50-60 years old have been maintained and remain healthy. They are treasured for their deep root structures that allow the plants to absorb a variety of complex nutrients.
These factors contribute in producing an atypical green tea: for its crafting methods, use of natural terroir, and meticulous craftsmanship.
