Notes of wet wood, seaweed, and pineapple
Green Tea from Arunachal Pradesh, India / Harvested in March 2023 / Organic
These beautifully long, dark green tea leaves comes from the land of Arunachal Pradesh, located at the Himalayan foothills. Carrying flavours of the mountain air, this tea will give you visions of a light mist hovering over tea bushes at dawn.
The source garden sits at 1500m, which is surrounded by several tribes that migrated from China. They bring an immense amount of knowledge for tea production methods to the area and continue to experiment with various cultivars of tea plants. The area is exceptionally pristine creating a cool and clean environment for tea to thrive.
In 2004, two major decisions were made to move away from chemical farming towards a more sustainable, organic proposition. With guidance from ancient Indian teachings of agriculture, the garden improved its soil fertility, corrected mineral deficiencies and many plant diseases and pests over a span of only one year. Since then, no fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides have been used on this organic farm.
This tea was harvested from one of the highest sections and crafted using a simple method for green craftsmanship. The following planting materials were used: TV22, TV23, ST462, ST463, ST520, TV26, S3A3 and Chinary 1865 seeds.
Once picked, the leaves were withered, steamed for one hour, cooled and shaped into slender spindles that brighten and unravel when steeped. The finished result brews a fresh, earthy, slightly astringent cup with notes of wet wood, seaweed and a hint of pineapple.
