Description: Matcha is pure, high grade green tea leaves from Japan that are ground into an ultra fine powder. Our tea artisans bring together a well-rounded flavour profile from farm-direct, shade grown matcha for lattes, smoothies and baking.

Ingredients: Organic Culinary Matcha from Fukuoka, Yame, Japan.

Health Benefits: Shade growing for 3 weeks promotes amino acids, chlorophyll production in the tea leaves which contributes to its florescent, bright green coloured powder. The leaves are not rolled, but laid out to dry so the stems and veins can be easily removed. The leaves are de-veined and then stone ground into an ultra fine, florescent green matcha powder.

Tasting Notes: Rich, buttery, umami notes with a slightly herbaceous finish. The mouthfeel is full-bodied with a smooth, creamy liquor.

Journey: Yame is located in a mountainous area with the Hoshino River that flows from the east to the west, creating an ideal climate for growing high-quality tea. It is a first harvest matcha, the leaves of which are hand picked and grown at high altitudes, where the air is moist and foggy and the trees grow slowly, yielding a matcha with exceptional depth and complexity. Tea trees grow slowly under these conditions, which translates into the tea’s sweet and savory “umami” flavors.
